Alright! This is my first contest, so if anything is unclear, please just ask and I'll clarify for you. C:

Objective:
All you have to do is draw any one (or more, if you like) of my characters using one of the themes I've given. Isn't that easy? Of course it is! This is a very open-ended contest, so don't worry if you can't draw seriously epic poses or anything. It's not necessary.

THEMES:
Please choose one or more of the following:
i - Color
ii - Hero
iii - Quote (Choose a quote from a book, movie, etc. and use it as a theme.)

DEADLINE:
All entries must be submitted by May 30, 2008. They will then be judged and I'll announce the winners within the following few days/week. C:

Rules - Please read all of the following before entering to make sure there is no confusion!
NEW RULE - You can include your own characters in it, regardless of their race. That's totally fine! C:
- You can use whichever character you like.
- Entries do not have to be colored, but they do have to be complete. (EG: Clean line art, etc.)
- You must follow one (or more) of the themes and specify which one(s) you used when you submit it.
- Do not bend the characters too much. You're allowed to modify them to suit your style better (as I realize a lot of their wacked-out hair is the result of my art style xD), but please don't make them into Sonic characters/anthros/aliens/whatever...
- You can change what they're wearing. In fact, I encourage it! C:
- This is a no-brainer, but no gory or explicit sexual themes.
- You MUST note me a link to your entry. I don’t want to miss any, and I’m not psychic. :C

Judging:
You will be judged by myself, ~MrSeahorse and ~Sonikkitty (neither of which are allowed to enter now. Sorry, guys!) on the following:

1 – Creativity. How did you use the theme you chose? /5
2 – Skill. How well done is the piece? /5
3 – Accuracy. Do the characters look like themselves? Are they in-character? /5
4 – Did you follow the rules? (Yes, you get easy points for this!) /5
5 – Effort. Did you try, or did you sort of just half-ass it? (More easy points!) /5

= 25 x 3 (judge scores) = /75

The people with the top three scores will win.

Prizes:

The prizes are as follows. Furthermore, all prize winners receive the right to badger me about drawing their picture until I do it. I won't allow you to get ripped off! xD

1st - You will receive a colored full-body character drawing of any character you want. Seriously; human, anthro, Sonic fan character... It doesn't matter! Additionally, if you don't have any characters of your own, I'd be glad to draw you fan art for something you like, like Tails or Edward Elric. C: (Note: I will not draw any character that you wouldn't want anyone under 13 looking at. They have to be covered up!)

2nd - A clean full-body character line art of the character of your choice. The guidelines for first place apply here, too.

3rd - A clean character pencil-drawing of the character of your choice. Guidelines are also in effect here.


Usable Characters:

Sadly, for the purpose of this contest, Gallagher isn't usable because he's not technically one of my characters. Sorry, ~Sonikkitty/anyone that wanted to draw him. :C

1) Drake - 12 years old. An incompetent, clumsy mage. He is very shy and his technique is limited, but he's very honest and sweet. Has a fondness for sparrows.
Design Note: Always wears clothes that don't fit him properly. He likes to wear things that are too big because he can "hide" in them. [link] [link]

2) Hayden - 17 years old. Drake's older brother. A hard-working, self-confident boy who his proficient with a bow. He's really into girls, but doesn't have much luck with them on account of his lack of tact. Hates Adel.
Design Note: Will wear just about anything, as long as it's "manly". Likes denim, flannel and other farmer-y clothes. [link] [link]

3) Adel - 17 years old. An aristocratic perfectionist with little patience and a sharp tongue. Sarcastic and disdainful, but a flawless pianist. Fights with a gold rapier. Could quite possibly have a god-complex. Hates everyone.
Design Note: Must always have black pants and a cravat. C:
His hair is actually supposed to be casually swept back.

4) Tide - 12 years old. Foreign and mostly unable to speak the same language as everyone else. He is extremely optimistic and good-natured, although whether this is because he is patient or just ignorant of the language is uncertain.
Design Note: Always wears a green and white striped scarf. [link] [link]

5) Ryan - 14 years old. The present ruler of the country. Childish and somewhat bratty with a penchant for music that borders eccentricity. He, too, is a mage. Although he is generally quite sociable and pleasant towards outsiders, he is reviled for his unkinglyness and obvious disregard for his duties.
Design Note: There is a treble clef on the back of his outfit, and in the event that he was to wear something else, there'd probably be some kind of musical notation on that, too. Likes green. Has somewhat tacky taste in clothes. [link] [link]

6) Lucrécia – 29 years old. Adel’s serious older sister. She has a no-nonsense attitude and is rather humorless, but she is very knowledgeable. Loves to read.
Design Note: I don’t really have an 100% “set” outfit for her, so you can put her in whatever you want. She likes purple, though, and she always wears long fancy dresses. C: [link]

7) March – 16 years old. A friendly but somewhat air-headed girl who is mentored by Lucrécia. She is innocent and doesn’t catch on to things very easily... A lot of jokes go right over her head.
Design Note: Like Lucrecia, she has a main color scheme, but her outfit could be changed to just about anything. Ankle-length skirt is necessary. [link]
(I know I don’t have a color reference, but when I draw her, her top and hairband are pink and her skirt is lavender.)
